So I celebrated my birthday this year in South America. That’s right, I hopped on a flight for an extended weekend in sunny Cartagena, Colombia! Anyone who knows me knows that I love to bring in every birthday in a new country. There’s nothing like waking up on your special day in a new destination, with new energy, and an amazing hotel of course. While in Cartagena I stayed at the amazing Intercontinental Hotel with an amazing view of the Old City.
My first day in Cartagena was spent recuperating and relaxing poolside with mojitos. Nothing like a care free day laying by the pool with a good book and a cocktail. Next was dinner, and I must say that one of the highlights of this trip was definitely the food. Were talking a spread of seafood, coconut rice, beans, plantain, and so much more. The next day was spent exploring the Old City of Cartagena. Soaking in all the art, history, and culture within the Old City walls was quite the experience.
On my actual birthday I took a day trip by boat to a little private island called Las Islas De Rosario. I spent the day relaxing at the beach with a book , great food, and even tried paddle boarding for the first time! Upon returning to my hotel, The Intercontinental surprised me with cake and balloons to help me celebrate my special day. Such an amazing experience!
